Description
Hadco Construction is seeking a skilled Yellow-Iron Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, etc.)
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and adjustments to extend equipment life
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Complete work orders and maintain accurate service records
- Operate equipment to test functionality after repairs
- Assist with field service calls when equipment issues arise on job sites
- Follow company and OSHA safety procedures at all times
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment/yellow-iron mechanic
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, engines, transmissions, and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, diagrams, and technical documents
- Experience with diagnostic tools and computerized systems preferred
- Welding and fabrication skills a plus
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Regular lifting, carrying, and handling of parts and tools weighing 50+ lbs.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and climbing on/off equipment
- Work performed in both shop and outdoor environments, exposed to weather and construction site conditions
- Noise, grease, fumes, and heavy machinery exposure are part of daily work conditions
