Full Stack Software Engineer

Location Sunnyvale, California — 5 days a week in-office About the role As a Full-Stack Engineer, you will contribute to building scalable, performant, and intuitive user-facing applications while partnering across engineering, product, and design to deliver seamless end-to-end experiences. You will own features through the full development lifecycle—from design and implementation to deployment and operational excellence while helping shape the future of Illumio’s user experience and platform capabilities. Your Impact Design, develop, and deliver full-stack features across frontend and backend systems, taking ownership from concept through production deployment Build scalable and responsive web applications using modern frontend frameworks and distributed backend services Contribute to architecture decisions, including frontend infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and application design patterns Own end-to-end quality, including unit, functional, and integration testing, ensuring robust and resilient software delivery Partner cross-functionally with Product Management, Design, and backend teams to refine requirements and deliver high-impact features Optimize user workflows and application performance, ensuring accessibility, responsiveness, and usability across platforms Develop and integrate APIs and services to enable seamless communication across distributed systems Monitor application performance, define metrics, and proactively identify and resolve production issues Continuously improve code quality, maintainability, and developer experience through best practices and tooling Your Toolkit 3–5+ years of professional experience in full-stack or UI-focused software engineering Strong frontend experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 Experience building backend services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, or similar technologies Solid understanding of RESTful API design and distributed system communication patterns Experience with modern build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and frontend tooling Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows Understanding of performance optimization, browser rendering, and debugging techniques Knowledge of testing frameworks and best practices across frontend and backend layers Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred) Bonus Points Experience building microservices or service-oriented architectures Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0+) and inclusive design practices Experience with frontend performance monitoring and metrics (INP, latency optimization) Exposure to large-scale SaaS platforms or cybersecurity products Experience working closely with design systems and component libraries Illumio believes that an environment of unique backgrounds, experiences, viewpoints, and individual contributions drives our success and makes us stronger together.
