Central Sterile Technician

Central Service Technicians, also called Sterile Processing Technicians, play a critical role in preventing infection by sterilizing, cleaning, processing, assembling, storing, and distributing medical supplies. Here's the kind of person who fits well with our team:

- Full-time, 40-hours per week,
- Monday through Friday, 7:30a-4p
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Minimum of one year experience in patient care and/or central service in a hospital or related health care facility, or completion of a certification course in central service technology.
- Must be able to respond to SMC within 30 minutes when on call.
- Able to take emergency call 3pm to 7am weekdays and 24-hour call on weekends on rotating schedule.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to function in stressful situations.
- Able to take weekend call on a rotating schedule.
- Must have strength and stamina for prolonged walking and standing.
- Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to read and write.
- Able to hear, or correctable with hearing devices, and able to talk and converse with others in person and over the phone.
- Able to hear, see, and feel to accurately assess, monitor, and administer care.
- Able to frequently lift at least 60 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Possesses fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to give care (i.e.: finger stick blood sugars, vital signs, feed patients, and handle instruments).
