Project Superintendent Water & Sewer Utility Construction

We are seeking a Project Superintendent based in Charleston, SC to lead water and sewer pipeline construction projects throughout the Southeast. As a Project Superintendent, you will play a key leadership role in directing field operations, mentoring crews, coordinating with project stakeholders, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards.

What You'll Do

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily construction activities on water and sewer pipeline projects.
• Manage crews, equipment, subcontractors, and work sequencing to maintain production goals.
• Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.

Champion Safety

• Lead daily safety efforts and promote a strong safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with trenching, excavation, shoring, and utility construction safety requirements.
• Conduct jobsite safety inspections and address potential hazards proactively.

Manage Project Execution

• Coordinate material, equipment, and manpower needs with Project Managers.
• Monitor job progress, productivity, and quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with owners, engineers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.

Develop and Support Your Team

• Mentor and train field personnel to support their professional development.
• Assist with crew management, performance coaching, and workforce planning.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Complete and submit daily crew time reporting and required project documentation.
• Maintain accurate records related to labor, equipment, and project activities.

What We're Looking For Required Experience

• 10+ years of experience in the water and sewer construction industry.
• 5+ years of experience as a Foreman or Superintendent leading utility construction crews.
• Proven experience managing pipeline installation projects from field execution through completion.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of water and sewer utility installation practices.
• Experience operating large excavators in the 80,000-130,000 lb class.
• Knowledge of trenching, excavation, and trench shoring systems.
• Competent Person experience related to excavation and trench safety.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment inspection, troubleshooting, and daily maintenance.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to maintain an active DOT physical.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon employment; physical card required).

Travel Requirements

• This position is based in Charleston, South Carolina.
• Travel is required for projects located throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.
• Approximately 90% of project work is currently located in South Carolina.
