Maintenance Technician 4 - Soledad

Job Summary The Maintenance Technician 4 does complex troubleshooting, equipment rebuilds, modification, fabrication, installation, repairs, servicing, and other related maintenance operations, supporting production and winemaking assets. This role also involves training and mentoring other employees. Adequate candidates will have solid fabricating experience, strong mechanical skills, and ideally some electrical experience. Self‑motivation, a positive attitude, a sense of urgency, and a strong technical aptitude are essential. Essential Functions Perform complex troubleshooting, equipment rebuilds, modification, fabrication, installation, repairs, servicing, and other related maintenance operations. Demonstrate core skills of advanced maintenance practices, including machine theory, maintenance process, mechanical, lubrication, power transmission, electrical, sensors, pneumatics, vacuum systems, and design and fabrication. Use a systematic, methodical approach to troubleshoot machine issues with minimal packaging or winemaking equipment knowledge. Develop a plan to resolve ongoing equipment issues on packaging and winemaking equipment. Lead or assist in all machine tear‑downs, rebuilds, preventative maintenance, and other projects. Read and interpret mechanical drawings and parts breakdowns. Understand lubrications, greases, and oils for packaging and winemaking applications. Other Functions Show strong core skill of power transmission components and systems, selecting gearboxes and motors for new or existing applications. Identify electrical components within panels and use electrical troubleshooting tools. Weld all types of metals, including sanitary welding practices. Complete all required documentation, such as requisitions and work orders, according to process and matrix requirements. Train and share knowledge, experience, and technical abilities with other employees. Recognize that this description reflects general functions and reserves the right to assign additional tasks. Qualifications Must be 21 years or older at the time of hire. 7+ years as a journeyman industrial mechanic, preferably in the wine/food industry. Electrical experience preferred; must have a strong understanding of how electrical systems work. Ability to MIG, TIG, and Stick weld. Experience in design, layout, and fabrication core skills; knowledge in metal machining practices and ability to operate a mill and lathe safely. Advanced understanding of PLCs. Capable of self‑direction and independent work during the maintenance supervisor’s absence. Effective interaction with other departments, peers, and supervisors. Ability to coach and lead others toward common goals, holding oneself and others accountable. Physical Demands Work in indoor and outdoor environments with varying noise levels and inclement seasonal weather. Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and twisting in a production environment. Work effectively at heights of 40 feet and higher. Repeatedly climb tank stairs/vertical tank ladders and enter tanks through manholes following confined space safety procedures. Repeatedly lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies with equipment. Compensation Hourly Pay Range Posted: $33.22 - $49.81/hr. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities, education, and other position‑related factors.
