Overview

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director, Facilities Operations to lead facilities strategy and execution across a large, multi-site ambulatory care network supporting 300+ outpatient locations in Northeast Ohio. This executive role is responsible for driving operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and high-quality facility services that directly support patient care and clinical operations.

The ideal leader brings deep healthcare facilities management expertise, strong executive presence, and a proven track record of leading large-scale, multi-site portfolios within hospital systems, academic medical centers, or integrated healthcare networks.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead facilities operations strategy across a large ambulatory healthcare network (300+ sites)
• Oversee maintenance, engineering, capital projects, and integrated facilities services (hard & soft services)
• Drive standardization, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across all locations
• Ensure full compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, OSHA, and life-safety regulations
• Manage vendor relationships, outsourcing partners, and service contracts across the portfolio
• Direct budget planning, forecasting, and financial performance management for facilities operations
• Partner with executive leadership, physicians, and operational stakeholders to align facilities with organizational goals
• Lead large, multi-site teams with multiple layers of management and significant FTE responsibility
• Support construction, renovation, and infrastructure improvement initiatives across the network

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of management experience in facilities, engineering, or integrated operations services
• 7+ years of experience in healthcare facilities management (hospital, ambulatory, or academic medical environments)
• Proven leadership of multi-site healthcare or complex facilities portfolios (100+ locations preferred)
• Demonstrated experience managing large teams and multi-layer organizational structures
• Strong financial acumen with ownership of large operating and capital budgets
• Experience working directly with C-suite executives and senior healthcare leadership
• Expertise in both hard services (engineering, maintenance, construction) and soft services (security, logistics, grounds, etc.)

Preferred Experience

• Large health system, ambulatory network, or academic medical center experience
• Northeast Ohio or comparable regional healthcare market experience
• Proven success building or scaling enterprise-level facilities programs
• Strong background in regulatory compliance and healthcare accreditation readiness
