Job Title: Infusion RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Infusion RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current RN License Required Certifications: BLS Required, ACLS Required, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certified Required Must-Have: Ability to manage antineoplastic agents and therapy following safety protocols, excellent communication skills Description: The Infusion RN is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in the infusion department. This role requires initiative, flexibility, and responsibility typical of professional expectations with minimal supervision. The RN determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow. Effective communication with practitioners regarding changes in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic study results is essential. The RN will initiate IVs via central venous devices or peripheral access and administer blood transfusions or drug infusions as ordered. Accurate and complete assessment of patients is crucial, including interdisciplinary screenings and pain assessments. Patient care must consider the patient’s needs, age, culture, and appropriate standards of care. The RN will educate patients and families about treatment plans and follow-up instructions per provider instructions. Assessing the effectiveness of pain medications and revising care based on patient responses is required. The RN prepares and administers medications based on the patient's age and clinical condition and manages the supply of medications. This position requires the ability to manage antineoplastic agents and therapy with attention to safety protocols. Explaining procedures to patients and families, utilizing specialty equipment, and assisting practitioners with procedures are key responsibilities. Maintaining documentation guidelines regarding timeliness and completeness of patient medical history is essential. The RN must perform duties in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of healthcare errors. Following established hand-off communication protocols and ensuring departmental security is required. Compliance with safety procedures to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff is mandatory. Participation in performance improvement activities is encouraged. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
