The Human Performance Specialist supports a multidisciplinary human performance program designed to optimize the physical and mental readiness of law enforcement personnel. This role focuses on improving trainee performance, reducing injury risk, and enhancing long-term workforce resilience through evidence-based training, assessment, and wellness education.
The Specialist works closely with program leadership to deliver human performance instruction, conduct fitness assessments, develop conditioning programs, and support data-driven performance monitoring for trainees and operational personnel. The position contributes to a comprehensive performance framework that integrates strength and conditioning, nutrition, sleep optimization, stress mitigation, and resilience training.
Key Responsibilities
Human Performance Training
• Deliver in-person instruction and practical training sessions focused on strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and tactical fitness.
• Conduct conditioning sessions aligned with program physical readiness standards and performance objectives.
• Provide guidance and education on the core pillars of human performance including Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition, Sleep Optimization, Stress Mitigation, and Mental Resilience.
Performance Assessment
• Conduct baseline and ongoing physical performance assessments for trainees.
• Administer standardized testing protocols to measure cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition, and tactical fitness capabilities.
• Assist in administering Physical Task Tests (PTT) and other fitness assessments required during training cycles.
Injury Prevention and Physical Screening
• Perform functional movement and injury risk screenings.
• Conduct body composition assessments and physical baseline evaluations.
• Identify areas of vulnerability and provide corrective exercise strategies.
Program Development
• Assist with development and refinement of physical training programs that support operational readiness.
• Support implementation of individualized training plans based on assessment data.
• Provide recommendations to improve training curriculum and performance outcomes.
Data Collection and Reporting
• Collect and monitor performance data from training sessions and assessments.
• Contribute to the development of performance metrics and analytics used to measure program effectiveness.
• Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports for leadership.
Wellness Education and Workshops
• Support workshops and webinars focused on human performance topics.
• Deliver educational sessions on fitness, nutrition, recovery, and mental performance strategies. Collaboration
• Coordinate with program coordinators, medical staff, and training leadership.
• Support integration of human performance strategies into the broader training curriculum.
• Assist with implementation and use of digital performance platforms and mobile applications used for tracking health and performance metrics.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Sports Science, or a related field.
• Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), or equivalent certification (ACSM or NASM).
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in physical training, strength and conditioning, or performance coaching.
• Demonstrated knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, fitness assessment, injury prevention, exercise prescription, behavior change, and health promotion.
• Experience delivering training or instruction to adult learners.
• Ability to work effectively in high-paced training environments.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting tactical populations (law enforcement, military, or first responders).
• Background working with collegiate or professional athletes.
• Experience conducting functional movement assessments and body composition analysis.
• Familiarity with performance tracking platforms or digital wellness tools.
• Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design.
