Network EngineerSeeking a skilled and proactive Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all network systems throughout their lifecycle. You will lead efforts to design, deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor critical network infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing connectivity across the organization.The ideal candidate brings a strong commitment to operational excellence and follows standardized, repeatable processes to support scalable and resilient network operations. This position plays a key role in safeguarding our health system's infrastructure by identifying and resolving issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards.Roles and ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and direction to Network team members in coordination with IT managementDesign, implement, and support secure, scalable, and resilient LAN, WLAN, and WAN infrastructures, including routers, switches, wireless controllers, access points, and firewallsManage the lifecycle of all network hardware and software, overseeing upgrades, replacements, and patching effortsCollaborate with vendors, service providers, and contractors to evaluate, procure, and maintain network solutions and servicesConfigure and optimize network systems to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance operations that align with organizational goalsMonitor network health, analyze performance metrics, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and ensure service continuitySupport network vulnerability management activities in line with established policies and standardsConduct research on emerging technologies, protocols, and best practices to keep the network environment current and effectiveEnsure reliable connectivity for all IT infrastructure components, including servers, workstations, VoIP systems, fax devices, and other networked equipmentMaintain accurate documentation of network hardware, software, configurations, and topologyProduce regular reports on network performance, capacity planning, and incident resolutionParticipate in managing and implementing network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systemsConduct security audits and support backup and recovery processesMentor and support junior staff within the Network and Cybersecurity teamsCollaborate with department leaders to assess and plan for short- and long-term network infrastructure needsDevelop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation related to network operations, security, and disaster recoveryQualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information systems, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum of 6 years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise environmentsExperience leading or mentoring a network team or junior administratorsProficiency with Fortinet, SolarWinds, Cloudflare, AWS, Microsoft and Cisco Wireless, Catalyst & Nexus technologiesExtensive experience with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN design and implementationExperience managing ISP relationships, circuit provisioning, migrations, and monitoringExperience working in regulated environments such as HIPAA and PCI-DSSFamiliarity with cybersecurity frameworks including NIST CSF, HITRUST, and CIS ControlsPreferred:Experience with the following technologies: Cisco, ForeScout, Fortinet, Tenable, Solarwinds Orion, Cloudflare, AWS, Microsoft ServerAdvanced certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or AWS Advanced NetworkingExperience with virtualized networks, network automation / management tools (e.g., Solarwinds Orion, Ansible, Terraform), or hybrid cloud infrastructurePrevious experience in healthcare or similarly regulated industriesKey Competencies:Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholdersHighly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple prioritiesCollaborative mindset and a strong sense of ownership over the reliability and security of IT infrastructurePhysical Requirements / Work EnvironmentThis role involves a combination of activities, including extended periods of computer work, walking within facilities, and occasional stair climbingMinimal lifting and carrying of equipment or materials may be requiredMust be available to work occasional evenings and weekends to support scheduled maintenance or respond to urgent issuesParticipation in an on-call rotation for after-hours network support is requiredCommunication & Interpersonal SkillsExceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for success in this roleMust be able to effectively interact with a wide range of stakeholders, including organizational leadership, clinical providers, staff, clients, vendors, and external partnersStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaboration across teams and departmentsExcellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
