Overview

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and comfort throughout the facility and grounds for our visitors and staff. This is a night shift position from 2:00pm – 10:30pm. Regular scheduled hours will include both weekend and weekday shifts, including holidays.

Must be available to work during the Hall of Fame's special events throughout the year, including mandatory availability during Hall of Fame weekend, the Hall of Fame's signature annual event.

Position Type:

This is a full-time, benefit eligible position that will work in-person at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY. Benefits associated with this position include health insurance, dental insurance, retirement, flexible spending account, employee assistance program, and paid time off (vacation, sick, holidays). The salary for this position is $18.00/hour.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining the appearances of museum restrooms, exhibit floors, and office spaces.
• Collection of trash.
• Maintaining clean appearance of exhibit glass.
• Maintenance and monitoring of all floor appearances, furnishings and fixtures.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Daily monitoring and maintenance of bathrooms and bathroom fixtures during open museum hours.
• Set-up and breakdown of facility rental and special events.
• Maintenance of floor equipment.
• Perform light maintenance and repair duties as necessary.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma and/or previous custodial experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to understand verbal instructions and written/verbal communications.
• Ability to read, understand and follow safety procedures, including safe use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to operate vacuums, floor scrubber, hand and power tools, other related equipment.

Typical Physical Demands: Continuous movement involving walking, bending, stretching, standing, pushing, carrying, and pulling. Able to lift 50 lbs.

Typical Equipment Used: Vacuum cleaner, broom, mop, floor scrubber, carpet extractor, floor burnisher, various tools and power equipment, ladders.
