Associate Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Ellicott City, MD. The role involves representing clients in legal proceedings, drafting legal documents, and advising on insurance defense and workers' compensation law. The position requires frequent litigation before administrative agencies, state trial courts, and appellate courts. Admission to the Maryland Bar is required, with DC and Virginia Bar licensure preferred. Duties Represent clients in administrative proceedings, court appearances, depositions, and trials. Draft and prepare legal pleadings and motions on behalf of clients. Advise clients on insurance defense and workers’ compensation law. Participate in mediations and negotiate settlements. Assist with preparing marketing materials and participate in marketing events. Requirements 0 to 3 years of experience in general liability and/or workers' compensation litigation. Licensed to practice law in Maryland; DC and/or Virginia licensure preferred. Experience with workers' compensation hearings and/or District Court trials. Experience drafting trial pleadings and handling written discovery. Experience taking and defending depositions. Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications Admission to the Maryland Bar. Skills Litigation discovery assistance. Strong analytical skills.
