Preventive Maintenance Technician – Thermal Processing EquipmentLet’s get right to your questionsWhat will I work on?

You’ll maintain and repair furnaces, secondary equipment, and facility structures. Your core mission is completing preventive and predictive maintenance and keeping the Preventive Maintenance System current.

Will I be troubleshooting?

Yes—diagnose problems and perform repairs with supervision, ensuring issues are documented and resolved safely.

What skills help me succeed?

• Hands-on foundation in electrical, mechanical, welding, and pipefitting.
• Comfort with safety training and strict adherence to lockout and confined space procedures.
• Ability to read prints, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; and to complete Maintenance Request Forms.
• Solid math: perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Sound judgment to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.

Do I need prior experience or a diploma?

• High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
• One to three months of related experience and/or training is preferred; equivalent education/experience combinations count.
• General maintenance skills are expected, and exposure to industrial maintenance is a plus.

Any certifications?

• Hi-lo (forklift) license.
• Confined Space permits and/or training.

Any training after I start?

Yes—the ability to complete the client’s course on confined space and lockout is required. Additional training needs may be identified during performance appraisals.

Will I supervise others?

No—unless you are specifically assigned within the maintenance department.

What’s the physical side of the job?

Expect frequent reaching with hands/arms; occasional climbing or balancing; and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling in confined spaces. You’ll occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

What’s the environment like?

You’ll often work near moving mechanical parts and around extreme heat & open flames. At times you may work in high, precarious places. Noise levels are usually moderate.
