Make a real impact in students’ lives by guiding and supporting learners with visual impairments in an educational setting. This unique part-time contract role provides the opportunity to bring your expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to a diverse school community near Foley, AL.
As a pivotal member of the student support team, you’ll have the chance to collaborate with classroom teachers, provide individualized instruction, and ensure accessibility for visually impaired students. With only a few hours required each week, this flexible position is ideal for experienced educators seeking to make a difference while maintaining a work-life balance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid Alabama certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Strong understanding of adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and educational modifications
- Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments in school settings preferred
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with parents, teachers, and specialists
- Ability to assess student needs and track progress effectively
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Adapt educational content and materials for accessibility, including Braille and low-vision formats
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure classrooms are optimized for student success
- Support development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Advocate for student inclusion and equal access to all school activities
- Offer ongoing consultation and training to school staff as needed
