About the Firm

Hippensteel Law Firm is a plaintiff-side litigation practice focused on two things: employment law cases in Arizona state and federal court, and consumer rights cases under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) filed in federal courts nationwide. We represent employees and consumers going up against employers and major credit bureaus. The work is meaningful, the case volume is high, and we run lean and tech-forward.

The Role

This is a litigation paralegal position for someone who is proactive, organized, and genuinely good with people. You'll work directly with the attorney to manage federal FCRA matters and employment law cases in Maricopa County Superior Court. You'll handle filings, track case progress, prepare documents for attorney review, and serve as a point of contact for clients who are often going through one of the harder periods of their lives.

The best version of this role looks like: service gets completed and you've already flagged it and sent the proof to the attorney for sign-off before being asked. Discovery requests come in and you've already pulled together a response template and dropped it in the attorney's queue. You understand how litigation moves, you know what needs to happen next, and you do everything within your scope to keep cases moving while keeping the attorney in the loop.

What You'll Do

• Handle ECF filings in federal court and e-filings in Maricopa Superior Court, including complaints, motions, responses, and notices
• Prepare and organize service of process documentation and flag completion to the attorney
• Track case deadlines, court schedules, and discovery timelines across a high-volume docket
• Prepare discovery response templates, correspondence shells, and other litigation documents for attorney review and use
• Communicate with clients directly to gather documents, provide case status updates, and explain next steps — with patience and care
• Maintain and update case management records with current status, tasks, and documents
• Anticipate what needs to happen next on each case and prepare what you can before being asked

What You Need

• 2+ years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably plaintiff-side
• Direct experience with federal court ECF filing (required)
• Familiarity with Maricopa County Superior Court procedures and e-filing (strongly preferred)
• Comfort with tech tools — we use Google Workspace, cloud-based case management, and AI tools as part of our daily workflow. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be curious and adaptable with new technology
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clients who are stressed, frustrated, or confused in a way that is warm, clear, and reassuring
• Paralegal certificate, legal studies degree, or equivalent experience

Compensation & Details

• Salary: $47,500 – $65,000 depending on experience
• Remote to start, with the expectation of moving toward a hybrid arrangement over time (Phoenix area preferred)
