Financial Consultant

Position Title Financial Consultant Location Sayreville, NJ 08872 Job Summary The Financial Consultant has the primary responsibility of retaining and expanding company relationships and soliciting new retail investment and insurance business from prospective customers. The role involves advising and assisting Flagstar customers in optimizing their financial position by creating customized investment strategies designed around their goals, time frame, and comfort level with market risk. Responsibilities Meet with customers or prospects to discuss financial needs and outline appropriate financial products that meet their goals. Build and maintain excellent relationships with the retail bank branches. Direct the investment sales for an assigned group of retail bank licensed bankers through coaching, training, goal setting, marketing plans, and daily support. Manage indirect talent functions: conduct team performance meetings, perform observations, maintain action plans, ensure cross training, and ensure compliance requirements are met. Process all paperwork in a timely manner. Stay current with all customer and partner communications and deadlines. Maintain and manage a highly compliant investment business. Conduct phone calls to existing and prospective retail bank customers and Book of Business customers to schedule appointments. Lead, set priorities and prepare presentations for calls and coach licensed bankers on successful prospect calls. Document calls and results, and submit reports to superiors as required. Use independent judgment and discretion to make decisions, analyze and resolve problems. Perform special projects, additional duties, and responsibilities as requested. Consistently adhere to regulatory and compliance policies and standards; maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Required Qualifications Education: High School or equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC) or foreign equivalent. Minimum of 2+ years of retail sales experience. Life, Health, and Accident licenses acceptable; if not held at hire, obtain within 120 days. Variable Annuity license: obtain within 30 days of passing Series 63 exam. Series 7 license: obtain within 1 year of hire. Series 63 and/or Series 66 license: obtain within 90 days of passing Series 7 exam. Preferred Qualifications Undergraduate degree (4 years or equivalent) or equivalent experience. Banking experience. One year of sales experience in the investment/insurance industry. Retail investment sales experience. Experience coaching or leading a team. Job Competencies Proven success in sales results and exceeding expectations. Physical Demands Moderate degree of physical exertion and stamina such as standing, sitting, walking, driving, or infrequent lifting.
