Shift SupervisorThe Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising, performing, and reporting work involving a variety of specialized assignments and security systems in our homeless shelter. Operations within our facility are 24 hours. This is a position that requires face-to-face relief with mandatory overtime. This position reports to the Security Manager.Duties & Responsibilities:Train new security officers/residential aide employees in all aspects of the facility.Supervise security staff during your assigned shift, assigning breaks, post assignments, and dutiesMonitor access control and ensure effective use of the magnetometer and x-ray machineRespond to incidents and utilize crisis management to protect the safety of the staff and clientsMake rounds throughout the facility and external premises to prevent, detect, deter, and report hazardous situations, trespassers, and illegal activities.Respond to emergencies in person throughout the building, and provide guidance and support to line staff and subordinates.Conduct daily security and fire safety system inspectionsFulfill all job responsibilities of a Safety Security Officer in their absence.Maintain the safety and security of clients and staff.Provide crisis intervention when needed.Assist the Security Manager in preparing and executing fire drills.Oversee AWOL family property pack upMonitor logging of client property to ensure accuracyEnsure that all managers are kept aware of critical incidents on assigned shiftsReview log book entries, incident reports, and critical administrative responsibilities on assigned shift, checking for errors and ensuring accuracyAttend various meetings and trainings as needed.Check inventory of all assigned equipment daily, and investigate any discrepancies.Mandatory Overtime RequiredPerform all related duties as assigned.Experience and Qualifications:Proof of education is required: High School Diploma/GED. 1-2 years of Supervisor experience required. A valid N.Y.S Security Guard License, Fire Guard License F80 Required, and certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI). Must possess a general knowledge of security systems. Ability to solve problems; ability to make decisions based on factual information is a must. Knowledge of video surveillance and fire detection/alarm notification systems a must. Must be flexible on days and hours of availability.
