Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) delivers high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients of all ages in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role entails providing care to approximately 59,000 patients annually within a 36-bed Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive and focused assessments of patients presenting with emergent, urgent, or non-urgent conditions.
• Triage patients utilizing evidence-based protocols to determine acuity and initiate appropriate care.
• Provide rapid interventions and stabilization for patients facing medical, surgical, traumatic, psychiatric, and pediatric emergencies.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in compliance with hospital policies and provider orders.
• Operate and monitor medical equipment including cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, and point-of-care testing devices.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, EMS personnel, and other healthcare team members.
• Coordinate patient care, including diagnostic testing, re-evaluation, discharge planning, and patient education.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in protocols such as rapid response, trauma activation, code blue, stroke, and STEMI as required.
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety guidelines, and hospital standards.
• Foster a culture of patient-centered care, empathy, and service excellence within a high-volume ED environment.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Oklahoma (or compact license).
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Preferred: TNCC and ENPC certifications (to be obtained within a designated timeframe after hire).
• Prior experience in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care, or high-acuity settings is preferred.

Working Conditions

This role operates within a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department comprising 36 beds, with frequent exposure to trauma and critical illness. Nurses will engage in physical activities including standing, walking, and lifting throughout their shifts. Collaboration with a diverse healthcare team and EMS partners serving the Lawton community and surrounding areas is essential.
