Job Title: Registered Nurse – PCU/IMC / Step-Down
Location: Potsdam, NY
Job Type: Contract (No Benefits)
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 4x12-hour shifts
Schedule: Every other weekend required; floating to sister units required

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced PCU/IMC Registered Nurse to provide care for patients in progressive care, step-down, and medical-surgical telemetry settings. Recent PCU/IMC experience is mandatory.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for the assignment.

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.

• PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years is mandatory.

• BLS certification.

• ACLS certification.

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

• Experience in PCU, IMC, progressive care, step-down, or equivalent acute care.

• Knowledge of telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation.

• Ability to float to sister units as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS certification.

• TCAR experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients in mixed-acuity PCU, Med-Surg Telemetry, and medical/surgical settings.

• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond to changes in patient condition.

• Provide care for post-MI, neurological, renal, and other acute medical patients.

• Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including insulin and heparin protocols.

• Manage central lines, PICCs, peripheral IVs, feeding tubes, wounds, and blood products as applicable.

• Care for preoperative and postoperative patients, including ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, and orthopedic surgery.

• Monitor patients receiving oxygen therapy, including high-flow nasal cannula and non-invasive respiratory support, as applicable.

• Perform assessments, communicate changes in patient condition, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.

• Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow medication safety, infection prevention, and patient safety protocols.

• Float to sister units, including West 2, West 3, and the Observation Unit, as required.
