  • Located on the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos, CA, Sunburst Youth Academy is a tuition-free, military-style residential program. It helps at-risk teens (ages 16–18) recover high school credits, develop leadership and life skills, and get back on track for graduation.

Schedule:

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-3:00PM
  • 30 hours per week
• Start date: Mid-August
• End date: Mid-December with the potential to work into 2027

Job Highlights

• Pay rate:
  • $24-25 based on experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred

Qualifications and Skills

• Being that this job is for a high-security military installation, a thorough background will be completed
• Minimum of 60 units of college credits with a minimum of 2-3 year of tutoring experience in Math
• Proficiency in high level math as tutoring is for high school students (Pre-Algebra - Pre-Calculus/Math Analysis) 
  • The tutor will work inside the classroom in a co-teaching model as a partner with a fully credentialed teacher.
• Teaching or tutoring certification preferred but not required
• Strong communication skills
• Detail-oriented and highly dependable
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Motivation and passion to help students achieve academic excellence
• Must have reliable transportation for in-person tutoring. If driving, proof of insurance for your vehicle is needed
• Must provide a negative tuberculosis test (valid within the last 2 years)
• Please provide a copy of any certification you hold such as a Teacher’s Credential/Certification or Tutor Certification
• National Tutoring Association certification available to StudentNest tutors
