N99382 Accountant II, Optometry, Tahlequah OK JOBSUMMARY Thisposition provides financial accounting support for college operations. Anincumbent in this position may be designated "Senior Accountant" at the higherpay grade.
MAJOR DUTIES Prepares monthly financial statements; prepares annual budget reports; prepares a variety of regular and special reports.
Processes credit card statements.
Processes accounts receivable invoices.
Processes purchase requests.
Coordinates with university purchasing personnel in regard to bids.
Processes travel claims for faculty and staff.
Requests fund and budget transfers.
Maintains and reconciles a variety of accounts.
Enters deposits into electronic database.
Processes accounts received checks.
Processes new employee paperwork; processes college payroll documentation; enters adjunct faculty time sheets; maintains faculty and staff personnel files.
Processes check requests for scholarships and reimbursements.
Visits clinics to audit cash funds.
Maintains records of grant funds.
Performs related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Knowledge of university accounting policies and procedures.
Knowledge of budget management principles.
Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication. SUPERVISORYCONTROLS The Assistant Dean for Administration assigns work interms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed workfor compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the finalresults.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK The work consists of varied financial accounting duties. Strict regulations and the need for accuracy contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to provide accounting support for college operations. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations. CONTACTS Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, students, vendors, and members of the general public.
Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, or to justify, defend or settle matters.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
The work is typically performed in an office.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENTRESPONSIBILITY Thisposition has direct supervision over Accounting Technician (1).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Ability to be bonded. Annual salary $39,828.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
