Exciting Benefits and Opportunities at NYAP!Position Title: Human Resources Business Partner II – Employee Relations – JORPosition SummaryThe HRBP II – Employee Relations leads employee relations case management, including fact-finding, conflict resolution, performance improvement support, and separation processes. This role operates with a high degree of independence and manages sensitive and complex workplace matters while providing thoughtful guidance to leaders and supporting resolution of workplace concerns by embracing NYAP’s values of caring for people, connecting communities and promoting peace.RESPONSIBILITIESThe HRBP II – Employee Relations for La Jornada will perform duties including, but not limited to:Performs all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s Mission, Values and Philosophies.Lead employee relations matters from intake through resolution, ensuring timely follow-through and thoughtful communicationGuide performance improvement efforts, including Success Plans, in a manner that promotes accountability, clarity, and employee growthConduct fact-finding activities and interviews with involved parties to support thorough and objective review processesFacilitate conflict resolution and difficult conversations with a solutions-focused and respectful approachOversee grievance processes and related documentation to support consistency and NYAP practice/policy alignmentManage termination and separation processes with compassion, attention to policy, communication, and NYAP/ORR/Federal/State standardsProvide guidance and partnership to leadership on employee relations matters and workplace concernsEnsure compliance with NYAP, ORR, Federal and State policies in employee relations practicesAssess employee relations concerns and recommend appropriate next steps in partnership with leadershipPrepare summaries and recommendations to support informed decision-making in employee relations mattersIdentify patterns or recurring themes in employee relations matters and elevate concerns as appropriatePerform other duties as requestedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree or HR certification required3+ years of HR experience, with a focus on employee relations or workplace investigationsStrong analytical, communication, and conflict resolution skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in assessing situations, prioritize competing needs, and recommend practical next stepsWorking knowledge of employment practices, organizational policy application, and documentation standardsBilingual English/Spanish fluency preferred but not requiredProficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.OTHER SKILLSSensitivity to cultural diversity.Enthusiastic self-starter.Works well independently and as a team member.Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate recordsProficiency in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environmentThe qualified candidate will follow a team concept and support agency goals, colleagues and ORR liaisons.PHYSICAL DEMANDSUse of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer who celebrates diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees by prohibiting discrimination and harassment of any kind.
