Logistics Specialist

Our client is seeking a Logistics Specialist to coordinate outbound transportation, improve shipping efficiency, and ensure reliable customer deliveries within a manufacturing environment.

This position combines hands-on shipment coordination, carrier management, freight routing, Transportation Management System (TMS) utilization, and logistics analysis . The ideal candidate has manufacturing logistics experience and can identify opportunities to reduce freight costs while improving on-time delivery and customer service.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate outbound shipments, carrier scheduling, and freight routing to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Utilize the Transportation Management System (TMS) to improve routing, shipping efficiency, and transportation performance.
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding shipment status, delivery questions, and transportation issues.
  • Troubleshoot shipping and delivery problems and coordinate appropriate solutions.
  • Verify shipping documentation and sales orders for accuracy and transportation compliance.
  • Monitor shipment activity, freight performance, and delivery metrics.
  • Evaluate carriers and shipping routes to identify cost savings and service improvements .
  • Analyze logistics and transportation data to identify trends and operational issues.
  • Develop reports to support transportation and logistics decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs, streamline shipping processes, and improve delivery performance .
  • Partner with internal teams, carriers, and technology providers to improve logistics systems and data accuracy.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across shipping and transportation operations.

Level II Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to logistics team members.
  • Coordinate work assignments and help manage team priorities.
  • Support employee training and development.
  • Assist with material handling, production activities, and swing-shift operations when needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of warehouse, logistics, transportation, or outbound shipping experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience for Level II consideration.
  • Experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS) .
  • Experience coordinating outbound freight, carriers, routing, or customer shipments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze shipping data and identify opportunities to improve transportation performance.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot shipment and delivery issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Level II Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of TMS and transportation optimization .
  • Demonstrated team leadership or work-coordination experience.
  • Ability to support employee performance and development.

Preferred Experience

  • Associate degree or technical certification.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred for Level II.
  • Inventory control experience .
  • Manufacturing logistics or supply chain experience.
  • Freight cost-reduction or transportation optimization experience.
  • Experience analyzing carrier performance, freight costs, and on-time delivery metrics .

Relevant Backgrounds

Candidates may currently hold titles such as Logistics Coordinator, Transportation Coordinator, Shipping Specialist, Logistics Analyst, Transportation Specialist, Shipping Coordinator, or Logistics Specialist .
