School-Based Physical Therapist Allied Instructional Services is a company led by therapists and educators. We offer a unique partnership with school divisions to provide effective and evidence-based physical therapy services to the students we serve. About the Role The Physical Therapist in a school setting functions as a member of a student’s educational team to provide comprehensive assessment and treatment of impaired gross motor skills that limit a child’s ability to access their school and participate with their peers. The candidate must possess a working knowledge of assessment and treatment practices, evidence-based research, adaptations for access to the school environment, and be willing to learn the expected roles and responsibilities of a Physical Therapist practicing within the school environment. Responsibilities Utilize current evidence-based practices to assess and treat a variety of students with gross motor delays and impairments. Comply with special education services within federal state/county procedural guidelines. Participate in the development and implementation of IEP's for those students identified as having a disability as a related service and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Provide ethical and evidence-based treatment that is guided by data collection, response to treatment, and on-going analysis of gross motor skills. Communicate and consult with students, parents, educators, administrators, and outside agency professionals.
