Regardless of experience, you are dependable, work hard every day and aren't afraid to communicate and ask questions.


What the job is: This job has the responsibility to alert management and the proper authorities of fire or fire hazards on the company property. You would also be responsible for helping extinguish fires once proper communications have been sent. In this role it's important to have good communication skills and be a team player due to the safety concerns that wildfire brings. The key to being successful is working smart, efficient and being aware of your surroundings.


Work schedule: An example of the schedule could look like Monday - Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Usual days off are Saturday and Sunday. During the height of the season (summer months) there may be overtime available.


Where you'll work: The job is located in Klamath Falls, but you will be driving throughout the property which is around 600,000 acres.

Compensation Details: The hourly rate for this job is $20.00. This is a seasonal position lasting from June to early October 2023 working a 40-hour week.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Seasonal Fire Watch incumbent is responsible for putting out fires and alerting management and proper authorities of fire hazards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following is a list of general job responsibilities for the Seasonal Fire Watch position. This list is not all-inclusive and may be broadened or changed to meet changing business needs.

• A Fire Watch employee must be alert and attentive to all activities on the job sites and surrounding areas at all times.
• Be prepared to operate fire extinguishers and water trucks at all times.
• Keep flammable materials from ignition sources.
• Watch out for fire hazards while work is being performed by other employees.
• Maintain constant means of communication.
• Must comply with all established safety requirements.
• Ensure there are not any hot sparks, burning embers or other fire hazards before leaving work for the day.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Regularly required to perform occasional lifting, regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing and reaching.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Ability to use a fire extinguisher
• Valid Oregon State Driver's License to drive company vehicles

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
