Echocardiographer (Relief)

Pay Range: $50.16 - $74.74 per hour, based on experience. This position is within the OFNHP bargaining unit. Step placement is determined by years of experience. Shift differentials: Evening $2.50/hr, Weekend $4/hr, Night starts at $10/hr. This relief position is eligible for a 15% differential on top of the base rate in lieu of benefits. Title Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technologist/Echocardiographer Reports To Manager, Echo Department Echo Department Summary The Echocardiography Department provides licensed technologists at all St.Charles Hospitals and associated clinics. Technologists deliver 24/7 echocardiography services in the Echo Lab, OR, ER, Cath Lab, and patient floors, as well as outreach hospitals throughout Eastern Oregon. Position Overview The Echocardiographer performs cardiovascular ultrasound procedures and related tasks according to provider orders, using imaging technique and patient care judgment. Database network oversight ensures timely follow‑through of ECHO/CV Ultrasound performance, interpretation and reporting to appropriate providers and facilities. This position does not directly supervise other caregivers. Essential Functions and Duties Perform and produce accurate cardiovascular ultrasounds per St.Charles Health System policies and guidelines. Conduct timely office procedures (charges, audits, filing, data collection, ordering) as required. Ensure accurate and timely entry and audit of charges. Read all cardiovascular ultrasounds/Echos daily and disperse back to referring physicians and facilities. Provide timely report and database entry completion and maintain the Echo database network. Provide clinical oversight and troubleshoot the system. Maintain proficiency in administration of ultrasound contrast agent and bubble studies per policies. Clean TEE Probes, TTE Probes and Echo Machines per policies. Perform inventory oversight and communicate equipment and supply needs. Prepare comprehensive reports for cardiologists. Document all patient care in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory agencies in Electronic Medical Records. Participate in call rotation. Education Required: Graduate of an accredited certificate program. Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: Current BLS/CPR Health Care Provider certification.; Current OBMI License.; RDCS-AE or RCS required within 90 days of hire.; Valid Oregon Driver’s License. Preferred: RDCS-PE, RDCS‑FE, RCCS. Experience Required: Six months of direct patient care experience in cardiovascular ultrasound. Preferred: One year of direct patient care experience in cardiovascular ultrasound. Personal Protective Equipment Must be able to wear appropriate PPE required to perform the job safely. Diagnostic testing and special skills: Transthoracic and Stress (Dobutamine & Treadmill) echocardiograms; Transesophageal echocardiograms; Proper cleaning of TEE probes; Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS-PE); Fetal Echocardiography (RDCS‑FE). Physical Requirements Continually (75% or more): Standing, walking, keyboard operation, clear speaking voice, hearing normal speech level. Frequently (50%): Sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1‑25 pounds. Occasionally (25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, reaching overhead, grasping/squeezing, hearing whispered speech level. Rarely (10%): Climbing stairs. Never (0%): Climbing ladder/step‑stool, lifting 25‑50 pounds, operating a motor vehicle. Exposure to elemental factors: Rarely (10%): Wet/slippery area, chemical solution; Never (0%): Heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, uneven surface.
