. This on-site, contract position is ideal for an associate-level practitioner looking to provide high-quality patient care in an acute care hospital setting.

As a Locum NP/PA Hospitalist, you will play a vital role in managing hospitalized patients, collaborating with attending physicians, and ensuring continuity of care within our Medical Practice. This role offers a dynamic environment where you can apply your clinical expertise across a broad range of internal medicine cases while delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.

 

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for hospitalized patients
• Collaborate with attending physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Manage acute and chronic medical conditions within the scope of hospitalist practice
• Perform procedures consistent with NP/PA hospitalist privileges
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and discharge plans
• Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic health record (EHR)
• Participate in patient rounds and communicate effectively with consulting specialists
• Respond promptly to changes in patient status and escalate concerns as appropriate
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain continuity of care during transitions between shifts and care settings

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Current and unrestricted licensure as an NP or PA in the state of practice
• National board certification as an NP or PA (e.g., AANP, ANCC, NCCPA)
• Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration or eligibility
• Associate-level experience in hospitalist medicine, internal medicine, or acute care settings
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams
• Ability to work independently and make sound medical decisions under pressure
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and medical documentation
• Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care
• BLS and ACLS certification required

Schedule: 6a-6p, 7 on/7 off

Call: 3p-6a, 3-4 times per week

Patient Volume: 21-25 per day

Setting: ~300-bed hospital, open ICU

Duties: Behavioral health clinical notes and inpatient admits

No required procedures

Must be board-certified
