JOB SUMMARY The Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing the monthly purchase planning cycle and issuing purchase orders to manufacturers for Mechanix Wear products. Working in close partnership with the Senior Manager of Product Supply, this role ensures product availability by owning inventory transfers, packaging materials procurement, out-of-stock (OOS) resolution, and On-Time In-Full (OTIF) performance - all in direct support of customer fulfillment goals.

Purchase Planning & Order Management
• Execute the monthly buy planning process, translating supply direction from the Senior Manager of Product Supply into actionable purchase orders.
• Issue and manage purchase orders to domestic and international manufacturers, ensuring accuracy in quantities, pricing, and delivery timelines.
• Monitor open POs and proactively communicate with vendors to track order status and resolve delays.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Planning, Sales, and Operations to align procurement with demand signals.
MOQ & Weeks of Supply (WOS) Management
• Maintain and regularly review Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) parameters by SKU and supplier, ensuring buy quantities are optimized to balance inventory investment with service level requirements.
• Develop and update Weeks of Supply (WOS) targets across the product portfolio, factoring in lead times, demand variability, and seasonal trends to keep products in stock.
• Recommend adjustments to MOQ and WOS thresholds based on sales velocity, forecast changes, and supplier constraints, escalating exceptions to the Senior Manager of Product Supply as needed.
• Monitor WOS coverage continuously and trigger replenishment actions when inventory falls below established minimum thresholds.
Inventory Management & Transfers
• Own the end-to-end inventory transfer process, coordinating movement of finished goods between distribution centers and warehouse locations to meet fulfillment needs.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and work with the warehouse team to reconcile discrepancies.
• Analyze inventory levels to proactively identify potential imbalances and recommend rebalancing strategies.
Out-of-Stock Resolution & OTIF Management
• Serve as the primary owner of out-of-stock identification, root cause analysis, and recovery planning.
• Drive OTIF (On-Time In-Full) performance by monitoring order fulfillment metrics and working cross-functionally to remove bottlenecks.
• Escalate risks and provide timely updates to stakeholders when supply constraints may impact customer commitments.
• Partner with Sales and Customer Service teams to prioritize inventory allocation during constrained supply situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The following are the minimum qualifications that an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.
EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field required. EXPERIENCE Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in buying, purchasing, or supply chain planning, ideally within consumer goods, apparel, or hard goods.
• ASCM (Association for Supply Chain Management) certification (CPIM, CSCP, or similar) and knowledge of ASCM frameworks a plus.
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed procurement decisions.
• Working knowledge of MOQ structures, WOS modeling, and inventory replenishment strategies.
• Proficiency in ERP and warehouse management systems required; experience with Prophet 21 (P21), Jasci, or New Horizons a plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Clear and proactive communicator who can work effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
• Results-oriented mindset with ownership of KPIs including OOS rates and OTIF performance.
