Facility Overview

This accredited health center serves a vast area of 4,400 square miles and functions as a referral center for the western regions of designated Reservations. Established in 1975, the facility has a total bed capacity of 73 and provides a wide range of services, including:

• Comprehensive inpatient/outpatient emergency services
• Dental and ophthalmology services
• Orthopedics and OB/GYN
• Oral surgery, eye surgery, and urological procedures

Approximately 49% of the surgeries performed are outpatient or ambulatory surgical procedures.

Located in a semi-desert landscape, this facility is situated in a unique community that offers a rich cultural environment. The area is home to diverse Native American tribes, including the Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute, along with a multicultural workforce comprising Anglo, Hispanic, and African American individuals.

Staff Composition

The medical staff includes a variety of specialists, such as:

• Surgeons and general medical officers
• Internal medicine specialists, psychiatrists, and pediatricians
• Family practice physicians and obstetricians
• ENT specialists, orthopedic surgeons, and urologists

The dental team includes general dentists, endodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, pediatric dentists, as well as dental assistants and hygienists. The nursing staff is composed of:

• Registered nurses and licensed practical nurses
• Nursing assistants and community health nurses
• Nurse practitioners and nurse midwives
• CRNAs and community health medics

Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse performs a variety of nursing care procedures requiring professional knowledge and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments. This role necessitates the ability to work independently to complete assignments in compliance with:

• Physician's orders
• Standards of care
• Nursing policies and procedures manuals
• Hospital policies

Nursing duties encompass providing support to individuals of all ages and their families.

Experience Requirements

Applicants must have at least 2 years of experience working as a nurse in an acute or sub-acute facility.

License and Certification

Applicants must possess a valid, current, full, and unrestricted Nursing License to practice in any state of the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory. The following certifications must also be maintained throughout employment:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
• Complete Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) within six months of hire
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) must be completed within six months of hire

Orientation

Orientation sessions are conducted every two weeks.
