Senior Project Manager - Design and Construction

Job Summary This position has primary responsibility for ownership and management of design and construction projects for renovation, alteration, or new construction of healthcare and healthcare‑related facilities. The candidate will provide oversight of projects from ideation through post‑completion, maintain accurate financial records and project correspondence, and perform all activities necessary in support of design and construction projects and initiatives. The candidate will also oversee the management of signage and wayfinding across the healthcare system. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of healthcare construction projects including budgets, schedules, the design process, construction, FF&E, quality control, and adherence to project specifications and drawings. Ensure delivery of quality departmental/clinical services in accordance with OhioHealth and regulatory/accreditation agency standards. Participate in committees, task forces, and projects as assigned. Provide a safe environment for associates and patients. Collaborate with all levels of OhioHealth and promote teamwork within the department and across the system. Demonstrate positive customer service and foster employee relations, maintaining synergy among the project team. Serve as a consultant (Project Manager) assigned to multiple projects and care sites; manage up to 20 simultaneous projects. Support OhioHealth initiatives and act as a positive change agent. Promote a professional image as a role model, coach, mentor, and resource for staff and peers. Develop and submit capital budgets and project schedules, reporting variances to the Director. Manage the purchasing process for design services, construction, FF&E, and indirectly for Information Technology. Lead design meetings with facility employees and design consultants, supervise design consultants, and review design documents for compliance with end‑user programs, facility standards, regulatory requirements, and codes. Develop project equipment lists and requirements with department managers, clinical engineering, facilities, and IT. Supervise contractors, ensuring adherence to job specifications, OhioHealth Work Safety Standards, and ICRA requirements. Plan and manage setup and occupancy of new and relocated end‑user programs, including punch list, commissioning of mechanical equipment, deliveries, start‑ups, regulatory coordination, and staff orientation and education. Attend and participate in educational programs or activities to maintain and exceed current knowledge or expertise. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field; or 5–10 years of managing the building design and construction process. Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred but not required. Desired Attributes Experience working with inpatient hospitals, ambulatory care sites, and clinicians. Competency in graphic design. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects. Excellent communication skills. Private transportation and willingness to drive to care sites across the 47‑county territory covered by OhioHealth. Ability to review and mark up drawings for construction and signage needs. Ability to process work orders using internal software platforms. Budget‑mindful approach to projects, seeking to deliver the best result at the least cost. Consensus builder among physicians, administrators, clinicians, and external vendors. Understanding, reviewing, and improving existing internal standards.
