The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), in partnership with the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) at Fort Wainwright, is seeking a full-time Plumber (Crafts & Trades 3, CT3) to join our skilled maintenance team. This position performs routine installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, domestic water, and sanitary drainage systems across Fort Wainwright facilities. The Plumber will inspect, install, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures while planning and scheduling work orders, preventative maintenance, and multi-craft projects.
The ideal candidate will have journeyman-level certification or equivalent experience with at least 15 years in the plumbing trade. Proficiency in reading blueprints, using hand tools, and following safety regulations is required. The role also involves coordination with multiple trades, effective communication skills, and computer literacy related to maintenance work order systems. Candidates must hold a valid Alaska Driver’s License and be able to obtain a State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness related to asbestos operations within six months. Experience in fire, water, and disaster damage remediation is beneficial.
This position is part of the UAF Environmental Community Partnership with DPW at Fort Wainwright, supporting safe, efficient, and sustainable military infrastructure.
