The Department of Neurological Surgery at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is in search of a Physician to help continue with our excellent patient care. Appointment at the level of Clinical Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or full Professor is available commensurate with experience. The Brain Tumor Center of the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurological Institute at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is a national leader in Neuro-Oncology and is heavily vested in further expansion. Members of the Brain Tumor Center interact directly with clinicians and researchers of the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center. Located on the campus of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center is a member of the NCI-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.The Brain Tumor Program is a clinical and academic program with a world-renowned faculty that is particularly well known in the fields of surgical and medical clinical trials for CNS tumors, immunotherapy, and cancer stem cells. Staff members have leadership roles in the NCI-sponsored consortia including ABTC and NRG. Compensation is highly competitive.A Brief OverviewProvides and manages direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients within a recognized area of practice or for a specified patient population.What You Will DoProvides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.Trains and supervises medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.Maintain department productivity thresholds.Maintain faculty status in good standing with the CWRU SOM (if applicable).Adhere to core physician obligations as outlined in the Physician Policy Manual.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Additional ResponsibilitiesPerforms other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards.For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.Qualifications· Active Ohio Medical License in good standing upon effective date of employment· Excellent clinical, research and teaching skills· Responsibilities of the position include active participation in the clinical, educational and research programs of the Brain Tumor Center and Department of Neurosurgery. · Experience in the evaluation and surgical management of patients with primary and metastatic neoplasm are pre-requisites. · Should be board certified in Neurosurgery· The ideal candidate should have track record of funded research activityWork ExperienceFellowship Training in some specialties (Required)Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesKnowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
