WELDER - HEAVY/CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

Welder – Job Description Salary: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour based on applicable skillset and experience. Position Welder Department Operations Status Hourly (Non-Exempt)/At-Will Location Castle Rock, Colorado Supervisor Operations Manager Lead Mechanic Purpose The Welder will utilize various welding techniques to weld and fabricate metal components as specified by blueprints, work orders, and/or oral instructions. Responsibilities Execute work in accordance with company safety policies and safe work procedures. Utilize TIG and MIG welding processes to weld milled steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Utilize blueprints to fabricate needed materials, parts, and components. Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder. Set material in stands, racks, hoists, etc. for welding. Buff and/or grind milled steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Properly utilize all hand tools and welding equipment to execute assignments. Execute vertical and horizontal welding tasks. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Experience Construction/Drilling: 5 years Welding/Fabrication: 3 years (Required) Auger and Kelly Bar Welding Experience (Preferred) Reading and Building Off of Shop Drawings: 1 year (Required) Skills & Abilities Capable of setup, layout, and tack-up of various metals. Ability to weld structures/components to specification. Ability to meet safety standards in appropriate rigging procedures. Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for project build process. Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and co-workers. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment. Ability to learn and gain knowledge. Ability to follow work orders or receive instructions. Ability to work independently and establish priorities (required). Ability to work for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions. Ability to work as part of a crew and follow work orders or receive instructions. Ability to focus on daily and weekly goals for the project. Ability to work in compliance with applicable OSHA and company safety requirements. Physical Requirements Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in required areas. Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location to another, including use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10’ or more in height. Visually seeing equipment operations well (with or without corrective lenses). Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting for long periods of time. Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back during performance of work. Climbing vertical ladders. Working at elevated heights. Lifting up to and including fifty (50) lbs. objects as required. Carrying up to and including fifty (50) lbs. objects as required. Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure. Remaining calm during emergencies and responding appropriately to the circumstances of the incident. Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week, including weekend assignments as required. Licenses or Certifications Valid driver’s license. OSHA 10 certification (preferred). Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Travel Travel is required on an as needed basis.
