The Beats Accessories Product Design team is seeking a product design engineer to work on the next-generation of products. We work in a highly-collaborative, fast-paced environment with teams across Apple including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Reliability, Software, and Marketing to define product objectives, design solutions, and validate the performance of those designs through mass production, all while keeping customer experience at the forefront. Our contributions have broad impacts – from the overall system size and shape down to the smallest details.As a member of our Beats Accessories Product Design team, you would conceive, design, test, solve problems, and bring into production a diverse array of accessory products. We work closely with various multi-functional teams including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Reliability, Software, and Marketing. Expertly integrating advanced components into brand new products means every single day is different here! This role may require international travel (~10%).ResponsibilitiesDesign mechanical parts including plastic, metal, or softgoods partsCollaborate with cross functional teams to understand and execute on critical integration and performance requirementsCreate 2D technical drawings and review dimensional inspection reportsPerform engineering analysis (including basic mechanical finite element analysis) to ensure designs meet all requirements throughout the product lifecycleSupport factory builds and on-site development activities, including periodic international travelConduct failure analysis on failed units and determine corrective actionsMinimum Qualifications2+ years experience in product design, or equivalentBS Mechanical EngineeringDemonstrated ability in plastic and metal part design3-D CAD skillsExperience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, and geometric tolerancingStrong analytical/problem solving skills, experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirementsSome experience with basic finite element analysis and general mechanical engineering analysisExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to multi-disciplinary teamsCollaborative, detail-oriented, and driven to deliver with a high standard of qualityFlexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environmentAbility to travel internationally (10%+)Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $122,700 and $214,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
