We're building more than infrastructure; we are building your future.General SummaryThe welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.Essential Job AccountabilitiesPerform welding operations on pipe, vessels, structural skids and other equipment.Ability to weld both CS and SS piping.Layout, cut, fit and otherwise prepare material for welding.Fabricate material from piping schematics and other drawings, working from blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions.Operate oxy-acetylene torch to cut, braze, weld and solder.Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.Perform quality detailing work, grinding, polishing, etc.Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns, performing all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Complete all appropriate documentation and paperwork.EducationHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experienceCertificationValid driver's licenseWelding certifications a plus, but not requiredWork ExperienceMinimum 2 years' experience in pipeline construction and welding proceduresKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesPrior experience with drilling, welding casing is a plus.Experienced in Stick, Wire Feed, TIGExperience with conceptualizing and designing for fabricationForklift certificationBe able to routinely lift heavy equipment up to 50 poundsWork within precise limits or standards of accuracyLook at flat drawings, pictures, and blueprints and visualize how they would look as solid objects with height, width, and depthHave good written and verbal communication skillsBe able to promote the safety culture within our company by working within the safety policies established by Granite and our customers.Be willing to perform a variety of tasks as may be necessary to promote completion of work, including assisting on other projects as necessary.Additional Requirements/SkillsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a small hand tools.The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environmentAbility and willingness to abide by the Company's Code of Conduct on a daily basisAbout Granite Construction IncorporatedGranite Construction Incorporated is a member of the S&P 400 Index and is the parent company of Granite Construction Company, one of the nation's largest heavy civil contractors and construction materials producers.
