Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description

The General Production Worker sets up and operates CNC milling and lathe machinery to produce precision parts, performs tool changes and offsets, assists with material loading, and conducts quality inspections using measurement tools. This role also supports assembly and wiring tasks, follows detailed blueprints and schematics, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and efficient production environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC milling and lathe machines to manufacture precision parts according to specifications.
• Perform tool changes and adjust machine offsets to ensure accurate and efficient machining.
• Assist with loading raw materials and components into CNC machinery.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for part and piece machining.
• Complete quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measurement tools.
• Carry out assembly tasks as needed to support production processes.
• Perform wiring tasks, including feeding wires through components and crimping connections.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during production and assembly work.
• Follow directions and standard operating procedures to meet production and quality standards.
• Maintain attention to detail to ensure parts meet required tolerances and quality criteria.
• Utilize basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, to document work and access instructions.
• Clean work areas regularly and follow safety guidelines to maintain a safe and organized workplace.
• Support general labor tasks within the production area as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC machinery, including setup and operation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for machining parts.
• Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Experience with CNC machines, including CNC lathes and CNC mills.
• Assembly experience in a fabrication or production environment.
• Ability to follow directions accurately and consistently.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship.
• Sufficient hand strength to crimp wires after feeding them through components.
• Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with general labor and production tasks.
• Ability to perform quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Manual machining experience is a plus.
• CNC schooling or trade school experience is preferred.
• Experience with wiring tasks in a production or assembly environment.
• Familiarity with fabrication processes and blueprint reading.
• Comfort working with hand tools and power tools for extended periods.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, temperature-controlled production facility that emphasizes safety, organization, and efficiency. Employees work with CNC milling and lathe machines, hand tools, power tools, and standard measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Basic computer use, including Microsoft Office applications, is part of daily activities. The position offers two shifts: 1st shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (two openings), and 2nd shift runs Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. (three openings). The environment supports both machining and assembly work, including wiring and crimping tasks, while maintaining a comfortable indoor climate throughout the year.

This is a Contract position based out of Hawarden, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $37.00/hr.
