Position Overview

Train to become a proficient Finishing Operator by working with experienced Finishing Operators. Learn to competently make mechanical adjustments and set up equipment according to the job ticket specifications. Learn to make ready, maintain and operate gluing machinery at the required production speeds while controlling quality, waste, safety, manning, and housekeeping standards.

Essential Job Functions

• Learns to review job tickets for specifications, make ready time, run speed, labels and any special instructions.
• Learns to set up jobs according to job ticket instruction and approved structures
• Learns to run equipment at the required speeds while maintaining quality, waste and safety standards.
• Learns to monitor production schedules checking for current job and next scheduled job to assure all resources are available.
• Verifies Feeder and Packer have the proper materials and a full understanding of the jobs requirements.
• Learns to perform routine and preventive maintenance.
• Learns to properly document production and quality inspections per Diamonds Standard Operating Procedures.
• Works with and assists Finishing Operator with make-ready operation of folder gluer in accordance with customer specifications with the goal of learning to perform work independently.
• Fill out all logs accurately, ensuring that all information concerning load designation and linear footage is correct.
• Discusses and ensures that all job status and issues are thoroughly communicated to the on-coming shift.
• Observes all safety rules and procedures.
• Keeps work area organized, neat, and clean.
• Performs other job duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must have high school diploma, G.E.D, or equivalent.
• Must have basic personal computer skills.
• Must have the ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
• Maintain focus on the Corporate mission and quality policy
• Adheres to all company policies.
• Establish and promote a safe workplace, ensuring through leadership that appropriate safety procedures and instructions are followed. Maintains good housekeeping and high standards of cleanliness.
• Any and all other duties may be assigned as needed or requested.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, job tickets, and procedural manuals.
• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be reliable and dependable.
