DESCRIPTION The mission of the Student Health & Well-Being (SHW) cluster is to promote a culture of health and well‑being for the student community, deliver equitable high‑quality innovative services, incorporate inclusive approaches, and celebrate diversity, with the goal of adoption and maintenance of healthy behaviors contributing to the academic success and personal development of all students. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide campus‑based mental health services to registered UC San Diego undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students. Deliver culturally proficient individual, group, and community interventions focusing on LGBTQIA+ identities to foster academic success and wellness. Conduct psychological assessments toward diagnosis, formulate treatment plans, provide focused psychotherapy, and refer students to appropriate levels of care. Participate in after‑hours, on‑call, and urgent care coverage. Consult faculty, staff, and administration; engage in mental health promotion and education through preventive outreach, psycho‑educational programming, evaluation, and Psychological First Aid Postvention. Provide supervision and training of CAPS Post‑doctoral Residents; maintain quality assurance and improvement in compliance standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Doctorate degree from an accredited program in Clinical or Counseling psychology. Unrestricted California license to practice psychology (out of state licensing within 180 days). Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by the start date. Demonstrated training, experience, and expertise addressing the mental health needs of students with intersecting LGBQIA+ identities. Knowledge of LGBTQIA+ communities, complex relationship structures, and diverse family relationship concepts. Experience working with under‑served college students to foster matriculation and academic achievements. Skill in effectively managing mental health emergencies. Culturally proficient individual and group counseling and psychotherapy experience. Warm, human, sensitive, and empathetic interpersonal style; ability to foster a positive, welcoming climate. Experience working with trans and genderqueer populations. Knowledge of diagnostic and psychotherapy services and psychological testing methodologies. Ability to develop and implement effective culturally responsive outreach programs and provide consultation, mental health promotion, and preventative psycho‑educational outreach services. Collaborative working style with diverse client groups and professional colleagues. Clinical supervision and organizational consulting experience. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of applicable laws and standards of professional conduct. Computer literacy and knowledge of electronic/medical records systems. Demonstrate professionalism in attire, attitude, conversation, behavior, and attentiveness to others. Complete all required training assigned by UCOP, UCSD, and SHW/CAPS on a timely basis. Maintain confidentiality of client, student, faculty, and staff disclosures; comply with HIPAA, FERPA, and related guidelines. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS University Counseling Center experience. Bilingual or other language proficiency for clinical care in a language other than English. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Employment subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical. Credential verification required for practicing privileges. Work evenings, weekends, holidays for emergency coverage rotation, outreach, and postvention. Work locations may vary as needed. Telecommute possible when operationally feasible. Completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form is required.
