Salary Base Salary for Anchorage: Engineering Geologist 1: $30.62/hr (OT eligible); Engineering Geologist 2: $35.28/hr (OT eligible). Base Salary for Fairbanks: Engineering Geologist 1: $31.54/hr (OT eligible); Engineering Geologist 2: $36.34/hr (OT eligible). What you will be doing Geo‑technical investigations, assist with field investigations for highways and airports, including site assessments, soil sampling, and subsurface condition evaluation. Planning & coordination, help prepare exploration plans, acquire permits, and coordinate with drilling teams and suppliers. Data collection & reporting, record field data, generate test hole logs, and assist in analyzing soil and surface mapping data using software tools. Geophysical surveys & reporting, conduct basic geophysical surveys (CCR and GPR), assist in writing geologic reports, and provide data for senior geologists. Other duties, attend training, assist with public inquiries, and perform various tasks as needed to support fieldwork. Working environment This position is located in Fairbanks, within walking distance across multiple buildings along Peger Road. Alternatively, it can be filled in Anchorage at the Tudor Center Drive complex. Who we are looking for Writing : Use correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; produce clear, concise written information for the intended audience. Geotechnical engineering : Knowledge of concepts, principles, and methods related to subsurface soil or geologic conditions for designing stable foundations or remediating subsurface conditions. Self‑management : Set realistic personal goals; demonstrate initiative, effort, and commitment; work with minimal supervision and be motivated to achieve. Oral and written communication : Effectively present information, listeners, and appropriate responses to diverse audiences. Geology : Understand the principles, origins, and structure of the earth, including physical forces that have shaped it. Qualifications Engineering Geologist 1 : A bachelor’s degree in geology, geological engineering, or a closely related discipline. Engineering Geologist 2 : A bachelor’s degree in geology, geological engineering, or a closely related discipline; and at least one year of professional engineering geology experience, or a master’s degree in a relevant field.
