Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) to join our exceptional team. This role is vital in providing high-quality care for critically ill neonates in a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-risk infants, including those requiring ventilatory support.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, implementing appropriate nursing interventions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for patients and families.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic charting systems.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Educate families on the care and needs of their infants.
• Participate in unit meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Aminimum of 2 years of experience as permanent staff; 3 years of experience in a level III NICU preferred.
• Experience in teaching hospitals is highly regarded.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including two weekend shifts per month, as needed.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be willing to float to the Mother-Baby unit to care for newborns as required.

Unit Information

The NICU consists of a 54-bed level III unit serving as a regional referral center for high-risk infants. The majority of patients are very low birth weight premature infants requiring specialized care.

Work Schedule

This position requires a night shift schedule of 3 twelve-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Flexibility is essential, as staff may be called off or placed on-call due to low census.

Additional Information

Parking is available on-site for a daily fee. In the event of low patient census, nurses may be given the option to be called off without charge or placed on-call in four-hour increments.
