Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology Faculty (Assistant Professor)
The Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology and Oncology, at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible medical oncologist with a focus in gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies to join the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) at the McNair Campus. The successful candidate will provide multidisciplinary, patient-centered care and contribute to the center's robust clinical and translational research programs. Initial faculty appointment (first three years) will include 80% clinical effort through Baylor Medicine (outpatient clinic and inpatient service) and 20% protected time for research. At full ramp-up, clinical responsibilities will include 5-6 half-day clinics per week and 6-8 weeks of inpatient service annually at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. Opportunities to reduce clinical effort with extramural funding are available.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or MD/PhD degree.
- BC/BE in Hematology and/or Oncology.
- Eligible for a Texas medical license and DEA certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical documentation and billing.
- Experience or strong interest in clinical trials and translational research in GI cancers.
The DLDCCC is an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center affiliated with Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Ben Taub Hospital, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, and Texas Children's Hospital. The O'Quinn Medical Tower offers state-of-the-art facilities including radiology, radiation oncology, endoscopy, and an 80-bed infusion center with a dedicated Phase I unit. The DLDCCC supports over $130 million in annual cancer-related research funding, including more than $44 million from the NCI. Faculty benefit from access to six well-funded research programs and ten disease-specific working groups that foster collaboration between basic and clinical scientists. CPRIT recruitment awards are available on a competitive basis.
Interested candidates should submit:
- A cover letter outlining academic and clinical interests
- Curriculum vitae
- Names and contact information for four references
