Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1.5 years minimum License: Active state RN license or compact license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Ventilator experience - Epic experience - Experience with a patient ratio of 1:5 - EKG tele competency assessment Description: This position requires experience in step-down or progressive care units. Candidates must have a minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience. The unit is currently trialing a team nursing model where two nurses and a partner work together to care for a group of patients. The goal is to improve both workload and patient care. The targeted patient ratios are typically 1:4, but can be up to 1:5-6. Nurses must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. Nurses will be fitted for appropriate respiratory protection prior to working on the unit. Floating may be required as necessary based on patient care needs. Daily tasks include managing patients with a variety of high-acuity pulmonary conditions. Interdisciplinary support is available from respiratory therapists, physical therapy, and other specialists. Candidates must be comfortable with floating within the facility based on their skill sets and census needs. The patient population includes individuals with COPD, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, and post-COVID complications. Teamwork is highly valued in this complex care setting. Navy blue scrubs are required. Requests for time off should be submitted with the application, as schedule requests will not be negotiated after an offer is made.
