Job Description

The 2nd Shift Yard Loader safely moves finished materials from production lines to designated inventory areas in the yard, working primarily outdoors and operating a forklift. This role also supports production by cross-training on various tasks and filling in when needed to maintain smooth operations across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to transport finished materials from production lines to inventory locations in the yard.

• Load and unload materials, ensuring accurate placement and secure stacking in designated storage areas.

• Work outdoors approximately 90% of the time, handling materials in all weather conditions.

• Cross-train in production tasks to provide coverage for associates who are absent or when production demands increase.

• Assist in production activities as needed, including basic machine tending and material handling.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and moving materials.

• Inspect forklift and other equipment before use and report any issues or maintenance needs promptly.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area in both the yard and production spaces.

• Communicate effectively with production and warehouse teams to coordinate material flow.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of recent forklift operating experience in a warehouse, yard, or similar environment.

• At least 1 year of outdoor work experience, comfortable working in all weather conditions.

• Proven ability to load and unload materials safely and efficiently.

• Experience working in a production or material-handling environment.

• Ability to follow safety procedures and operate equipment in a safe manner.

• Capability to work on 2nd shift and adapt to changing priorities.

• Strong attention to detail when moving, stacking, and storing materials.

Work Environment

The role is primarily outdoors, with about 90% of the workday spent in the yard operating a forklift and handling materials in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and precipitation. The indoor production area is not climate controlled and can become cramped when scrap material accumulates, so comfort with variable temperatures and tight spaces is important. The environment is active and hands-on, with frequent movement, material handling, and coordination between yard and production teams.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of London, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.25 - $21.50/hr.
