Job DescriptionJob DescriptionGerber Ciano Kelly Brady LLPis seeking an associate attorney with 1–3 years of experience located in Downstate New York to support the firm’s New York defense practice. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a junior attorney to develop litigation skills in a collaborative, forward-thinking law firm environment.The ideal candidate will have early-career experience in general litigation and strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Exposure to insurance defense, professional liability, product liability, or appellate work is a plus but not required. This role requires initiative, sound judgment, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Candidates must be admitted to practice in New York and reside within one of the five boroughs of New York City, as the position requires the ability to cover hearings and court appearances throughout Downstate New York in support of active defense matters. While proximity to a physical office is not required, availability and reliability for in-person court coverage is essential.Responsibilities include:Assisting with all phases of New York defense litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparationDrafting legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal memorandaConducting legal research and preparing comprehensive reports and legal analysisParticipating in court conferences, depositions, and hearings as appropriateManaging deadlines and ensuring compliance with client guidelinesMaintaining accurate time records and billing entriesRequired Skills/Qualifications:1–3 years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm settingAdmission to practice in New York (additional bar admissions in NJ, CT, or PA are a plus)Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skillsStrong communication skills, professionalism, and a demonstrated work ethicAbility to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines consistentlyFederal court or appellate experience is a plus, but not requiredWhy Gerber Ciano Kelly Brady LLPAt Gerber Ciano Kelly Brady, we're building something different.
