Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a general OR position in a short-term acute care hospital, requiring trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred.

Details

• Short-term acute care hospital setting with 418 staffed beds
• General OR with trauma, vascular, orthopedic, neuro, GYN, urology, ENT, cardiovascular, bariatric, and thoracic case exposure
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Weekend shifts required in lieu of weekday shifts as departmental need dictates
• On-call required: weekday call 16 hours every 4 weeks and weekend call 24 hours every 4 weeks
• No floating between units required for this specific position, though floating between sister facilities may be expected
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience required
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA certification required
• ASATT certification preferred
• Compact state license must be in hand at time of submission (license required if applicable)
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• First assist and trauma work setting experience preferred
• Experience with vascular procedures such as AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, and endovascular aneurysm repair preferred
• Experience with endovascular and hybrid room procedures required
• Whipple procedure experience is a hard requirement
• VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) experience preferred
• Travel experience required
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• Full SSN and DOB required for submission

Additional Information

• Support surgical procedures across a wide range of specialties including general, vascular, orthopedic, neuro, GYN, urology, ENT, cardiovascular, bariatric, and thoracic surgery
• Maintain aseptic technique and assist with case cart and crash cart preparation
• Care for scopes, fiber optic equipment, and high-level disinfection processes
• Scrub attire is provided for OR staff
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of submission; post-offer requests may not be granted
• Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel contractor and must not be within 50 miles of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history at Providence facilities as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem staff
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
