Early Head Start Teacher

About the Role Head Start Birth‑5 has an opening for a full‑time Early Head Start Teacher position working 35 hours per week. The teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing education services for infants and toddlers 6 months to 3 years old. The teacher works collaboratively with a co‑teacher and a classroom aide to prepare and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans, using the research‑based curriculum designated by the Head Start Birth‑5 program. The teacher must complete required developmental, behavioral, and sensory screenings within the required time period and perform all duties and responsibilities as they relate to the Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and the Head Start Birth‑5 Forms and Procedures Manual. Requirements Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential or a comparable credential and training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant‑toddler development are required. LHDC may provide on‑the‑job training to obtain the appropriate credentials if necessary. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and experience teaching infants and toddlers are preferred. Must meet Head Start and Indiana Child Care Licensing Regulations, including Head Start Standards of Conduct, federal and state criminal history requirements, sex offender registry checks, drug screen, physical, and an annual T.B. test.
