Key Responsibilities
Operate digital fluoroscopic and portable radiology equipment under general supervision to capture routine radiographs of specified body areas, following physician instructions and established protocols.
Utilize radiologic expertise to deliver diagnostic imaging services for patients of all ages, ensuring adherence to radiation safety and organizational policies. Demonstrate proficiency in general radiography and fluoroscopy by acquiring and assessing images for technical quality, confirming patient identification, and labeling images accurately. Independently assist with invasive procedures in the operating room using C-Arm and/or O-Arm technology.
Engage in departmental and organizational initiatives aimed at improving workflows, enhancing patient experiences, and ensuring quality and safety to boost patient care and operational efficiency. Actively participate in training and educational activities for students and staff.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including preparing and cleaning patient rooms. Manage supplies and inventory in the designated area.
Communicate effectively with patients to gather relevant medical histories, address inquiries, and explain procedures to ensure understanding and comfort.
Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of equipment by conducting quality control activities and promptly reporting any equipment or environmental issues.
Provide education and support to patients, including preparing them for procedures and addressing their physical and emotional needs. Escalate concerns through the appropriate channels as necessary.
Manage patient flow and coordinate care through consistent and effective communication with patients, care teams, and families. Document patient care activities in electronic health record systems and ensure timely distribution of final images to the PACS system for interpretation.
Exhibit professionalism in all actions and communications, embodying the organization’s core values and fostering a respectful and supportive atmosphere for patients, families, and colleagues. Comply with the ARRT Standards of Ethics.
Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, professional, and accreditation requirements.
Follow leadership directives and established protocols to maintain efficient patient flow, seeking clarification when necessary.
Qualifications
Education
Associate’s degree is required;
Certification in Radiologic Technology (awarded before January 1, 2015) from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) is required.
Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in diagnostic radiography and fluoroscopy (XR/RF) is required.
Licenses and Certifications
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification is required upon hire.
Licensed Radiologic Technologist in Maryland and/or Virginia, as applicable, is required upon hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills are preferred.
This position offers a competitive salary range of USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 per hour.
