VDI EUC Engineer

Job Title VDI/EUC Systems Engineer Job Overview Design, deploy, maintain and optimize enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments for GDIT clients. Serve as the point‑person for security, automation, performance tuning, and incident response within the EUC (End User Computing) ecosystem. Drive modernization initiatives and ensure secure, compliant and highly available virtual desktop solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, deploy, upgrade, and maintain enterprise VDI environments. Manage and support VDI platforms and related technologies. Troubleshoot performance, connectivity, authentication, and user experience issues. Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and environment optimization. Support VDI lifecycle management including upgrades, migrations, and patching. Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and ops procedures. Build, maintain, and optimize Windows golden images for VDI environments. Automate image creation, testing, and deployment using HashiCorp Packer. Implement image versioning, standardization, and lifecycle management. Validate application compatibility and OS configurations before production releases. Automate image deployment and maintenance where possible. Implement and maintain STIGs and security baselines. Perform OS hardening and vulnerability remediation. Ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability scans and audit findings. Support patch management and endpoint security initiatives. Utilize monitoring and observability tools to proactively resolve infrastructure issues. Analyze performance metrics, logs, and alerts. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science. 8+ years of related experience. Hands‑on experience with VMware Horizon, Wyse Management Suite, and Liquidware. Strong knowledge of Windows Desktop operating systems and desktop lifecycle management. Experience with profile management technologies and application virtualization. Knowledge of network concepts including DNS, DHCP, VPN, TCP/IP, and load balancing. Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting tools. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Knowledge of EUC security best practices and Zero Trust Architecture. Experience with automation and DevOps practices. Security+ certification, AD and endpoint management proficiency. Communication and troubleshooting skills required. Preferred: VCP certification. US Citizenship required. Additional Requirements Clearance: Must currently possess or be able to obtain Top Secret/SCI Clearance. Travel: Less than 10%. Location: USA VA Newington (On customer site). Telecommuting: Onsite.
