Summary:
Provides nursing care to patients across various age groups following departmental policies and Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act. Functions independently within established guidelines, addressing issues to the nurse manager or supervisor.

Responsibilities:

• Accountable for job-specific/unit-specific competencies as provided by the Nurse Manager and/or Staff Educator.
• Collects and analyzes relevant patient health data.
• Determines nursing diagnoses based on assessment data.
• Identifies and sets individualized patient outcomes.
• Develops and implements a plan of care with nursing interventions.
• Evaluates and updates the medical record with patient progress toward outcomes.
• Reports significant changes in patient condition to physicians.
• Counsels and supports patients and families in alignment with the care plan.
• Provides support to patients and families coping with illness-related stress and end-of-life issues.
• Systematically evaluates and improves nursing practice quality and effectiveness.
• Reflects knowledge of current nursing standards and healthcare regulations.
• Continuously acquires and updates knowledge and competence in patient care.
• Engages in professional development with peers and healthcare providers.
• Makes ethical decisions for patient advocacy.
• Collaborates to provide humane and compassionate care.
• Utilizes clinical inquiry and research in practice.
• Integrates safety, effectiveness, and cost considerations in patient care planning.
• Adheres to established policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Exercises independence in responsibilities with minimal supervision.
