Overnight Team Leader

Responsibilities Plan, direct, and supervise team members in day‑to‑day operations of various store departments. Serve as mentor and coach for all team members. Implement strategies to improve customer service, drive sales, and meet service efficiency goals. Maintain store appearance, focusing on prime hours, product presentation, and company standards. Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members. Responsible for staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs. Promote succession planning, providing career paths, identifying development needs, and participating in promotion decisions. Document and apply disciplinary actions, make recommendations concerning discharge. Manage P&L, achieve sales goals, and maintain shrink for each department. Model exceptional, fast, and friendly customer service. Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations. Ensure team members are thoroughly trained and have completed all required training. Spend majority of time in‑store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service. Promote a safe work environment. Maintain reliable and consistent attendance. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or its equivalent. 2‑3 years of related retail experience. At least one year of management experience. Rotational assignments in other store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, and customer service are helpful. Ability to communicate clearly and precisely to team members. Ability to resolve conflict by addressing root‑cause issues. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use it to make informed decisions. Ability to teach suggestive selling. Commitment to safe work practices at all times. Ability to mentor team members in all organizational areas, including SDITs, hourly positions, and team leaders. Successful completion of all required certifications. Compensation and Benefits Pay range: $18.45 – $27.05 hourly. The specific rate within this range is based on experience, qualifications, skills, and internal team comparisons.
