Therapist Speech Language Pathologist

Job Summary:

Responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. Provides therapy to improve communication and swallowing functions, primarily in acute care and skilled nursing facilities.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Assess patients' communication and swallowing abilities through clinical evaluation.
  
  
• 
  Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on patient needs and diagnoses.
  
  
• 
  Perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies independently in radiology settings.
  
  
• 
  Document patient progress utilizing Meditech electronic health records and paper records as needed.
  
  
• 
  Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members to coordinate care.
  
  
• 
  Provide training and education to patients and family members on communication and swallowing strategies.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Hold Hawaii state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  
  
• 
  Possess BLS certification.
  
  
• 
  Have a minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in SNF or rehabilitation hospital settings.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate proficiency in performing Modified Barium Swallow Studies independently.
  
  
• 
  Be able to adapt quickly to various departments and float as needed.
  
  
• 
  Show strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
